Facts about the “pink eye”

This is a very common type of infection which people do catch due to various possible reasons. But not looking into “pink eye “ patient is not a treatment or the best way to prophylaxis the cause. 
 



Let us consider you got up from a nice sleep and saw your eye are not “kaale kaale naina “ but it’s something which is giving a annabella look . You immediately jump in your wardrobe to get your sunglasses as you think that’s the only remedy to your illness .

  • Wash your hands often with soap and warm water for at least 20 seconds. 
  • Do remember wash  them  well before and after cleaning, or applying eye drops or ointment to, your infected eye.
  • Wash  any discharge from around your eye(s) several times a day using a clean, wet washcloth or fresh cotton ball ,with clean hands .
  • Throw your cotton balls after use.
  • Wash your belongings like pillow covers , bedsheet , cloth etc  by yourself 
  • No exchange of eye drops with a non infectious person.
  • Do not share your used belongings.
  • No swimming.

  1. VIRAL CONJUNCTIVITIS 

 

  • discharge from the eye is watery rather than thick.
  •  accompanies a common cold or respiratory tract infection

 

  1. BACTERIAL CONJUNCTIVITIS 

 

  • discharge from the eye is thick rather than watery.
  • conjunctivitis occurs at the same time as an ear infection
  • Shortly after birth

 

  1. ALLERGIC CONJUNCTIVITIS 

 

  • eyes itch intensely
  • occurs seasonally when pollen counts, dust particles are high
  • it occurs with other signs of allergic disease, such as hay fever, asthma, or eczema

 

          When you are around infected person you should :

 

  • Wash your hands frequently with soap water
  • Do not share stuffs.
  • Avoid touching eyes or rubbing it .
  • Advice them to consult an eye doctor if complications are not normal.

 

               Complications like:

 

  • Pain in the eye 
  • Intense redness in the eye 
  • Prolonged pinkish eye even after care and use of antibiotics.
  • Blurring of vision even after cleaning of discharge.

 




 

       Do a regular eye check up , pick up a nice eye doctor in your area and give  your eyes enough time  to rest                            Use blue cut,  arc coating glasses for prolong screen use.
